             The Dumeril Boa snake comes from Madagascar. It eats rodents such as mice and rats. It can grow to five feet in length. It is a rare snake. Dumerils are one of the species of ground boas. Dumeril are nocturnal meaning they sleep at day and are awake at night. When a snake eats food bigger than its mouth, its mouth will unhinge so its mouth can open very wide.

      The Aldabra Tortoise can live to be 170 years old. The Aldabra Tortoise is from the island of the Aldabra Atoll in the Seychelles. Its carapace averages 47 inches in length. The average weight of a male is around 551 pounds.  The Aldabra Tortoise eats grasses, leaves, and woody plant stems. The Aldabra Tortoise is a reptile.

       The Blue Tongued Skink lives in the eastern area of the United States. It grows to be about 60cm long. The Blue Tongued Skink feeds on small plants and animals. When it lays its eggs it can lay up to 12 eggs. The Blue Tongued Skink has dry scaly skin, is cold blooded, and lays eggs so it is a reptile.

             Chinchillas can jump up to 5 feet in the air.  They are agile jumpers. Chinchillas eat plants, fruit, seeds, and small insects. Chinchillas typically live about 15 years but it’s not uncommon for them to live 18-22 years. The Chinchilla’s body length is 10-19 inches and it is 5-6 inches tall. Chinchillas live in burrows. They have soft fur. They are most active during the night. The Chinchilla’s predators are hawks and skunks.

              An albino king snake has pink eyes. Some of them live in California. They lack dark colors usually evident in the normal pattern of the species to which it belongs. This is known as an absence of melanin. They usually have yellow stripes or dots. They eat every 10 days. They eat rats, birds, and other small animals. They are generally more fragile and do not see well.

           The Coatimundi eats fruit, insects, and small animals. The Coatimudi is from Belize. The Coatimundi can get up to 2 feet long and the tail can also get up to 2 feet long. They are omnivorous and they are vertebrates. The Coatimundi’s weight is 9 LBS. They are seen in groups of 30 individuals.  Coatimundis sleep in tree tops.

    The scientific name for the curly hair tarantula is bruchypeima albopilosum. The life span of females is 3-10 years. The male’s life is much shorter. The temperament of curly hair tarantula is generally docile and calm. The tarantula is also called the wooly tarantula. The size of the curly hair tarantula can reach a leg span of 5-5.5inches. Curly hair tarantula eat crickets and other large insects.

           The Boa constrictor can grow to be 4 to 12 feet in length. The Boa eats rodents, lizards, and even bats! The Boa has live young. The Boa lives in northern Mexico and Argentina. The Boa is solitary and nocturnal. The Boa is a pinkish or tannest color with cross bands. The Boa is in the Boidae family.

      Our animal is the Sulcata Tortoise. Most Sulcata Tortoises live in northern Africa. The Sulcata Tortoise is the biggest African mainland tortoise. Their carapaces can be 24 to 30 inches. They can weigh from 80 to 110 pounds! They have broad flattened carapaces that are evenly brown or yellow in color. Their diet consists mainly of fruits. They eat cactus fruit, plaintain, desert mallow, and many more things. Sulcata Tortoises can graze and forage for hours on end. If they eat alfalfa or other hay products they will start to rapidly grow. Sulcata Tortoises originated from the hottest desserts in the world. If the temperature around them reaches 104 Degrees, they will rub saliva on their arms and legs and hide in their shells to keep cool. Sulcata tortoises can live to be 200 years old. People think they have been alive since the dinosaur age!

          The pygmy hedgehog is a cool animal. The hedgehog can live up to about two or three years old in the wild. The hedgehog is not related to the porcupine. The spikes on the hedgehog are not quills. They are actually the hedgehog’s hair pointed into spikes. Its habitat is in a desert biome. The hedgehog is an omnivorous. It eats spiders, insects, small amounts of plant matter, and small vertebrates. The hedgehog is known to eat scorpions and poisoness snakes without getting ill. It is a nocturnal vertebrate that can travel several miles in a night. The hedgehog can grow to be seven to nine inches long. These are some true facts about the pygmy hedgehog.

       The pine snake lives in Louisiana.  The snake eats moles, gophers, and chipmunks.  The snake can be about 48-66 inches long.  Before the snake sheds, its eyes turn a cloudy blue.  They also have dry, scaly skin.  They are cold-blooded.  They lay eggs that have leathery shells.
