Guinea Pigs are very fascinating creatures. Guinea Pigs were discovered in the 17th century, but some scientists say they have lived since 5000 BC. They are bigger than hamsters and more rugged. They live in homes with people. They love to eat veggies and fruits. They also have to eat pellet food you find in stores. Pellet food contains vitamins that they have to have to keep them alive. If you treat them correctly they will most likely live 6 to 8 years.  If they are treated incorrectly they live about 3 years. At times they make weird noises. They are nocturnal. This means they sleep during the day and are awake at night. Guinea Pigs make great classroom pets.

This is the tarantula’s scientific name - Brachypelma Smithi , also known as the wooly tarantula. The size of the Brachypelma  Smithi tarantulas legs gets up to 5-5.5 inches. The life span is 3-10 years for the female, however the male’s life span is smaller than the female’s life span. The tarantula eats crickets and other large insects. The biggest tarantula can kill animals as large as lizards, mice, or birds. Females can deposit 50 to 2,000 eggs, depending on their species, in a silken egg sac and they guard it for 6 to 7 weeks.

This is what we learned about the Sulcata Tortoises .The Sulcata Tortoises is from Africa. A Sulcata is like many other tortoises. It can weight up to 90 lbs. They like to move around and they are very strong when they are young. When the temperatures exceeds 104f  they will begin to salivate heavily smearing the saliva on their fore arm to help them cool themselves down. They call the Sulcata  an “eating machine”.  They say they are also climbers. Eggs incubate in the ground for eight months. Animals such as raccoons, opossums, dogs, and cats like to sneak up on sleeping tortoises
